New York. Students from degree program Business Psychology and International Business Management (B.Sc. / B.A.) enrolled in the integrated semester study abroad program at our partner institutions Berkeley College and Pace University attended the opening of DAAD’s Art Show and reception. The event was organized by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) New York which is the head office for North American operations. The evening featured works by current DAAD grantees Mr. Philipp Schmitt and Mr. Markus Wulf who are both students in New York. Mr. Schmitt is pursuing his education at Parson’s School of Design, The New School University and Mr. Wulf is studying at Columbia University’s Film School. The festivities were held at the German House which is the address for the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in New York as well as the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United States. Consul David Gill opened the art show with an impressive speech about the importance of the German and American relationship. He emphasized that the work and education in the arts funded by the DAAD strengthen the ties between the two nations. Following Mr. Gill was a congratulatory introduction from Dr. Nina Lemmens, Director of DAAD North America who not only welcomed all attendees but also highlighted the journey of the two artists. Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences students met with the artists and discussed the idea and concept behind the work. The show was a fabulous opportunity to explore the work of future artists and connect with people through the art. (jn)
