Beside theory, students at the Master’s program in International Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economics and Market Strategies for Healthcare Products (MIMS) get various chances in their first year for on-site visits to leader manufacturers in the drug and medical devices fields, and to organizations concerned for delivery of affordable healthcare to patients worldwide. Such encounters connect them to the applications of the learnt health economics concepts in the drug and healthcare industry. On April 25, 2018, the students were in an excursion to B. Braun, a leading medical device company headquartered in the town of Melsungen, Germany. During their visit, a briefing on the 170-year history of the company, its expansion and innovative technology was presented. They also had a tour in the company’s hi-tech intravenous infusion solutions’ production facility. Over the lunch, the students met with Steffen Kruse graduated from the Master in International Pharmacoeconomics, who is now Manager Health Economics & Market Access Government Affairs, Health Policy & Economics in B.Braun. Students had the chance to discuss with him his responsibilities in the health economics department and the different ways he applies the health economics concepts he learnt from the program in the positioning of B.
