Information for German and foreign applicants with foreign qualifications
Are you interested in a Bachelor degree course at Hochschule Fresenius - University of Applied Sciences and have a foreign qualification that is not yet recognised by a central recognition body in Germany? If that’s the case, Hochschule Fresenius - University of Applied Sciences has to send your documents to an external institution to verify that your qualification is equivalent to a German university entrance qualification. This verification procedure is subject to a charge.

The recommendations of the Conference of German Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) relating to the evaluation of qualifications can be found in the following database: www.anabin.de. The verification bodies in Germany assess the qualifications in line with the recommendations, whereby the federal states or central recognition bodies have the authority to make a final decision on whether or not to recognise a foreign university entrance qualification.
Are you interested in a Master degree course at Hochschule Fresenius - University of Applied Sciences?
Only students, who already have a university degree e.g. a Bachelor degree, can apply for a Master's degree course. The requirements for each Master's degree course are listed on our website in the “Study” section. Students wishing to enroll on an English language Master's course will also need to be fluent in English. The web page on Master's degree courses includes details of how to provide proof of English language fluency.
Generally, only Chinese applicants who have an APS certificate issued by the Academic Evaluation Centre in Peking as proof that they meet the requirements specified by the German Conference of German Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs for enrolment on a first course of study will be accepted by German universities.

Language skills for German Bachelor degree programmes
Anyone who wishes to enrol on a German language Bachelor or Master's course at Hochschule Fresenius - University of Applied Sciences should be fluent in German.
The following certificates are accepted as proof of adequate fluency in German.
- “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang“ - DSH with an overall score of DSH-2
- “Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache“ – TestDaF with a minimum level
- 4 assessment in all 4 examination papers (see: www.testdaf.de)
- “Prüfungsteil Deutsch“ of the Studienkolleg assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung)
- German language diploma of the Conference of German Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs - Level II
Hochschule Fresenius - University of Applied Sciences does not offer any German language assessment tests.
People with the following certificates do not have to take a language assessment test:
- Goethe Certificate C 2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS)
- School qualifications which are equivalent to a German university entrance qualification
- Foreign certificates listed in section 3 (4th indent) of the Decision of the Conference of Education and Cultural Affairs Ministers of 2.6.1995, as amended.
Anyone who wishes to enrol on an English language Bachelor course at International Business School of Hochschule Fresenius - University of Applied Sciences is required to have certain German and English skills.
The following certificates are accepted as proof of adequate German and English language skills:
- German Level B1 (Telc B1, Goethe Certificate B1)
- English Level B2 (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, others)
Completion of Studies Scholarship
The scholarship is financed by the DAAD from funds provided by the German Federal Foreign Office and provides financial support for non-German students in the final phase of their studies, who are performing very well und who will successfully complete their studies within one year. In addition, this scholarship may support non-German students who have run into financial difficulties through no fault of their own.
