The liberalization of the energy industry, the rapid digitalization of energy management processes, and the energy transition planned for the coming decades mean that energy suppliers have to overcome tremendous challenges. Requirements for energy industry employees are constantly increasing and changing in ever shorter cycles. The energy industry requires more and more managers who are familiar with energy management processes in a rapidly evolving market, possess technical expertise, and have an in-depth knowledge of key legal frameworks in energy generation and supply. At the same time, they should know how state-of-the-art information and communication technologies can be used. The new part-time Master’s program in Digital Energy Management at Hochschule Fresenius in Frankfurt trains students to become energy experts. In addition to energy management, they also receive a comprehensive education in leadership skills and change and innovation management. Trained energy managers can implement and have a major impact on the adjustments required as part of the energy transition. Energy managers are in demand for challenging roles in Germany’s around 900 energy supply companies, research institutions, and public authorities.

Entrance requirements

Students enrolled at universities in Germany are subject to the insurance duty of statutory health and social insurance. Applicants must therefore contact their responsible statutory health insurance providers in advance of enrolment in order to acquire the required proof of insurance. Applicants who are insured by private insurance providers either as members or family members require a proof of exemption from the statutory insurance. This is produced exclusively by statutory health insurance providers upon verification of the proof of private health insurance. (Proof of insurance from private providers, proof of membership period, copies of insurance cards, etc. can unfortunately not be considered.)

We will gladly provide you with a detailed handout about students’ health care insurance as well as a template of the required proof of insurance that you can then give to your insurance provider.

    Majors

    The study program focuses on decentralized energy generation, shared and sustainable energy supply, consumption planning, demand management, measuring data management, billing management for new flexible tariffs, customer advice, the distribution of energy services, and data-driven business models. Students also learn about energy law and acquire business expertise in the fields of management, leadership, and marketing.

    Hochschule Fresenius planned the Digital Energy Management program with the assistance of Süwag Energie AG, which was involved largely in drawing up the curriculum on energy supply and generation. Both Süwag Energie AG and Hochschule Fresenius wish to create an economic foundation for Germany’s energy transition and to make a lasting contribution to training specialists in this field.
