Multidisciplinary studies


The bachelor degree course thoroughly prepares you to meet the demands of the business environment and the labour market. It gives you the professional, methodical and social competences that you need to satisfy the requirements of careers in diverse sectors of industry. Practical studies

The six-semester course leading to the staterecognised Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree focuses on
communicating application-oriented course content in small study groups. The course includes a period of work experience to allow students to apply what they have learned in practice.

Targeted studies


To maximise your chances of gaining entry to your chosen career, you choose two major subjects
that reflect your interests and aptitudes after the third semester so that you have your own area of
specialisation. You can also choose a major subject from one of our other bachelor courses (health
care business management, media management*, business psychology or business law*) in place of the ones available for this course.

Major subjects for the business administration course:

  • Intercultural management
The major subject of intercultural management provides you with a comprehensive knowledge of the business strategy, organisational structures and marketing strategies of international corporations. You also learn how organisations go about human resource planning and how these plans are implemented in accordance with corporate objectives. Bearing in mind the increasing significance of an organisation's ability to adapt to change, you also learn about change, innovation and quality management.

  • Marketing management
In the major subject of marketing management, you learn about basic concept development and information sourcing in marketing decision-making processes to provide you with an understanding of contemporary marketing. You also gain practical marketing controlling knowledge and skills. In case studies and business games, you are able to consolidate your existing knowledge and apply it in
practice.

  • Media management (Idstein campus only)
Media management covers the latest developments in modern communication methods. Modern organisations cannot afford to ignore these developments. The emergence of new media technologies will result in the creation of new occupations that also have economic relevance. This major subject provides the relevant qualifications based on a combination of media skills and business competence.

  • Tax consultancy / auditing (Cologne campus only)
The major subject of tax consultancy / auditing enables you to gain a specialist knowledge of all the most important tax types, such as VAT, income tax and corporation tax, and to assess an organisation's position on the basis of business data analyses. Straightforward tasks provide you with an insight into business decision making and you will work on smallscale consulting projects in conjunction with business enterprises in the form of case studies.
